Under the Animal Health Law, use of an Approved Quarantine Establishment (AQE) is one option available to facilitate exports of Breeding and Production (B&P) cattle to certain EU Member States if they have certain disease freedoms or approved eradication programmes. For exports from Northern Ireland, an AQE may be used to facilitate the export of live B&P cattle to certain member states with regards to Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) and Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR).
Further information on the BVD requirements to export to an EU Member State with an approved BVD eradication programme or BVD Free status can be found here and information on applying for Establishment Free from BVD status can be found here.
These documents provide useful advice and guidance in relation to applying to operate an AQE.
