How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website aren't fully accessible:
- On mobile devices, some tabular content may be hidden from view. Some buttons appear to become centre aligned and are also cut off
- Text can be resized to 200%, however some text at the right hand side of tabular content may be hidden from view
- Users may have to sign back in after a period of inactivity, as there is no way to extend or adjust the session

- On sign in, users may need to remember password details (cognitive test)

Technical information about this website's accessibility
DAERA is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Issues with technology
- Move 'Copy organisation address above the 'enter postcode' so it's the first thing people see under the H1 heading.
- On mobile simulation, tables are truncated and the information is hidden from view (cannot be scrolled to). Some buttons appear to become centre aligned and are also cut off (1.4.10: Reflow)
- No timeout mechanism to extend or adjust the session (2.2.1: Timing Adjustable)
- Accessible authentication requires entry of password (cognitive test) - out of scope of this application (3.3.8 Accessible authentication)
Issues with text
- Text can be resized to 200%, however some text at the right hand side of tables begins to be cut off (without the ability to horizontally scroll) (1.4.4: Resize text)
- The title shown in the browser tab does not always reflect the actual content of the page (e.g. Supporting Documents page has title 'Application', Review pages are titled 'Review' but not 'Review supporting documents') (2.4.2 Page Titled)
Issues with PDFs and other documents
- No known issues
Issues with images, video and audio
- No known issues
Issues with interactive tools and transactions

What we're doing to improve accessibility
The Department is actively engaged in improving the accessibility of its applications. As part of our 'UX Checklist', we require developers to design software with accessibility compliance built in. In those circumstances where compliance cannot be met, reasons for this should be documented, along with steps for addressing issues. We also carry out user research to ascertain user requirements and conduct usability workshopping before launching new applications.
