Representations acknowledgements – livestock installations in the planning process
DAERA has received a large volume of correspondence from individuals advising of representations they have made on a number of different planning applications for agricultural livestock installations and associated anaerobic digestion proposals where DAERA has been consulted in the planning process.
The Department has taken the decision to acknowledge receipt of this correspondence by notification on the DAERA website. Those who have written to the Department to advise they have made a representation on a planning application are asked to regard this notice as confirmation of receipt of their correspondence.
Please note that the relevant planning authority is responsible for making decisions on planning applications as referenced on the public planning portal. The planning authority has a statutory duty to consult DAERA in the circumstances set out in Article 3 and Schedule 3 of the Planning (General Development Procedure) Order (Northern Ireland) 2015.
DAERA provides responses on environmental matters within its remit to consultation requests from the planning authority. Our responses to these consultations and environmental information submitted by the applicant may be accessed on the public planning portal. Any representations relating to planning applications should be directed to the relevant local planning authority.
Should a planning authority require further advice from DAERA with regard to issues raised in individual representations, including issues regarding the Department’s advice in its consultation responses, it may re-consult DAERA through the formal planning process before making its determination.
