The chipping, shredding, cutting or pulverising waste plant matter - paragraph 21 exemption
A paragraph 21 exemption allows the chipping, shredding, cutting or pulverising of waste plant matter, or the sorting and baling of sawdust or wood shavings. Guidance and application forms can be found below.
Waste stream(s) permitted
- Waste plant matter (including wood or bark)
- Sawdust or wood shavings
Quantity
No more than 1,000 tonnes of waste may be dealt with in any period of seven days.
Storage and location
Storage of the waste must be at the site where the activity is to be carried out
The total amount stored must not at any time exceed 1000 tonnes.
Additional conditions
The activities must be carried on for the purpose of recovery or reuse.
